Description:
Midsized evergreen, dioecious shrub of acidic soils. The only Ilex species to sucker. 6 to 8 feet tall. Female plant makes shiny black berries. Partial shade to shade. Prefers moisture but can tolerate dry conditions. Flowers mid June to early July. Fruits mid September to November.
