Special Events and Programs

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance holds these special events during the year.


Middle of Nowhere – Sept. 4, 2021

Spend the day with us on the grounds and in our historic, renovated barn for a film and music event. Tickets are $35 per person for the in-person event and $20 to attend virtually. The main event is a screening of the award-winning film The Pine Barrens (with live score) by David Scott Kessler and The Ruins of Friendship Orchestra. Other events include landscape documentaries, live music, sound structure by Raúl Romero, Pinelands Brewing Company beer, and a 20% discount on canoe/kayak rentals with Pinelands Adventures. Join our virtual Town Hall on September 14th at 7 pm to share your experiences and ideas, learn from others, and talk about how we can improve access to nature in and around New Jersey’s Pinelands National Reserve for individuals identifying as disabled. Learn more >

Tour de Pines

The Tour de Pines is taking place in person from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, 2021! Registration is now open. Four single-day bicycle tours of the New Jersey Pinelands are offered for this special event. Proceeds benefit the Pinelands Preservation Alliance. Learn More >

Juried Pinelands Photo Exhibit

Call for photographs! PPA sponsors an annual juried photographic exhibition, featuring images of the New Jersey Pinelands National Reserve depicting its landscape, flora, wildlife, communities and people. The next exhibit will be held in March 2022. The deadline to submit your photographs is January 30, 2022. Learn more >

Spring Native Plant Sale

We are holding an online native plant sale from April 22 to April 28, 2021. A portion of the proceeds from the sale benefits our work. A link and a code to order will be listed on our plant sale web page. Learn more >

Life Science Field Training Institute

PPA sponsors an annual multi-day field science experience for educators in June to strengthen field-based investigations in their teaching and improve student performance. Learn more >

Fall Native Plant Sale

Our 2020 native plant sale will take place online from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. A portion of the proceeds from the sale benefits our work. Plants native to the Pine Barrens and South Jersey will be for sale. Learn more >

Green Trading Post

Organized as a traditional holiday bazaar, the Green Trading Post, offers merchandise and memberships from local non-profit environmental, cultural or historical organizations. The event takes place the first weekend in December at PPA. Use your “greens” for good and for gifts this holiday season. Learn more >
