Dr. Emile DeVito, long-time trustee of the Pinelands Alliance, was honored by EarthShare New Jersey with the Environmental Stewardship Award on June 12th.

Emile lives and breathes the Pine Barrens and cares deeply about its protection. He serves on many boards and commissions, including the Endangered and Non-Game Species Advisory Committee and Natural Lands Trust, lending his expertise wherever conservation efforts need a strong and LOUD voice. Since 1989, Emile has filled the role of manager of science and stewardship at the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, and he is known as a premier ecologist in the state of New Jersey. When someone has a question, they call Emile, and he is always ready to answer and join a battle to protect a forest, animal, or plant. The number of awards continues to grow for Emile, but there will never be enough to truly measure the worth of Dr. DeVito in New Jersey. His work has protected countless acres of land, advanced scientific understanding, and inspired generations of environmental advocates. Congratulations to Emile and thanks for all that you do for the earth.
