What are you waiting for, Governor Murphy?
Governor Murphy is failing in his promise to protect New Jersey from climate change. Take Action.
In early 2020 Governor Murphy announced the NJPACT (New Jersey Protecting Against Climate Threats) initiative. These measures were supposed to protect the residents from the catastrophic effects of climate change, including flooding. Two years and two devastating storms later, and nothing has happened.
Recently, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced emergency measures to protect lives, property, and infrastructure in areas currently vulnerable to flooding. The New Jersey Building & Industry Association sent a letter to the Governor, asking him to prevent the DEP from taking immediate action. They said the measure didn’t address any imminent peril. The Governor then intervened and prevented the emergency rules from taking immediate effect.
NJPACTNOW.org is the collective endeavor of more than 30 nonprofit organizations, including the Pinelands Preservation Alliance, that think two years is two years too long to wait for concrete measures. Get the facts and take action at www.njpactnow.org.
New Jersey residents are being forced to bear a crushing price for Trenton’s failure to address the havoc unleashed by climate change. We pay this price in tax dollars. In property damage. In lost wages and income. In human lives.
Email the Governor tell him to ACT now and protect our families, our homes, our schools and our businesses from flooding and other harmful impacts of climate change.
