Winter Walks Through Batsto Village

Bundle up and explore historic Batsto Village this winter! Join one of Wharton State Forest’s guides on a walk through Batsto Village and along a scenic Pine Barrens trail. See sites like Batsto’s general store, gristmill, and sawmill as you learn the history of village and the people who once populated it. Then, walk along peaceful upland pine environments and cedar swamps as you experience winter in the Pine Barrens. Tours are approximately 90 minutes and are available each Sunday in January. Tours begin at 2 p.m. inside the Batsto Visitor Center and are free and open to the public. Visitors are strongly encouraged to dress warmly and with comfortable footwear for walking outside. Tours may be canceled due to inclement weather.
