31st Annual Forked River Mountain Clean-Up

Share:

April 21 @ 8:30 am 1:00 pm

The Forked River Mountain Coalition, in cooperation with the Ocean County Parks Department and the Pinelands Preservation Alliance, will conduct a cleanup of the Forked River Mountain area for Earth Day on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Pre-registration is necessary. This will be the 31st Annual Cleanup. Last year volunteers helped to clean up 17 tons of debris making the 30-year grand total 750 tons. Please help make this year’s cleanup another success.

Bags and gloves will be supplied or you may bring your own. Hotdogs and refreshments will be provided after the cleanup. Volunteers with four-wheel drive vehicles are especially needed. A sturdy pair of hiking or work boots are recommended. Dress for the weather on the day of the cleanup (wear layered clothing; bring rain gear). Insect repellent is also recommended.

All individuals must pre-register. There will be 12 spots available per group, and they will be filled on a first come first served basis. All groups will meet at 8:45 AM and begin cleaning up by 9:00 AM.

Exact meeting locations (such as Lacey Municipal Building, Wells Mills County Park, or Bamber Lakes Fire House) will be emailed to each group at the email address you provided once cleanup locations are determined.  Refreshments will be provided immediately after the clean up at Bamber Lakes Fire House.

All persons that participate in the cleanup will be provided an opportunity to visit the mountain with a staff member from the Ocean County Parks Department. At this time however, we cannot guarantee transportation to and from the mountain after the cleanup therefore you must plan on providing your own transportation to and from the mountain, and for that, four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended.
