SUMMARY:The Batona Trail - Walking Path of the Pines
DESCRIPTION:Share: \n\n\nThe Batona Trail is one of the longest trails in New Jersey\, covering 53 miles of forests and wetlands in New Jersey’s Pinelands National Reserve. Constructed in 1961 by the Ba – To – Nature (Batona) hiking club this trail traverses the Pinelands from north to south. Learn more about the trail and how to plan your next hike from Diane Mason and Rosemarie Mason of the Outdoor Club of South Jersey. They will take you on a virtual tour and share highlights and favorite spots like Batsto Village\, Apple Pie Hill and Tea Time Hill\, the Drunken Hobbit Bridge in the Franklin Parker Preserve section\, Pakim Pond and Ong’s Hat at the northern terminus. \n\n\n\nFree for current members of the Pinelands Alliance.  $10 / person for nonmembers. \n\n\n\nClick this link to register. DESCRIPTION:Share: \n\n\nDate: Tuesday\, June 3rd\, 2026\, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PMLocation: Pinelands Alliance\, 17 Pemberton Rd\, Southampton NJ 08088Cost: $50 per person. Students can attend for $20 per person \n\n\n\nPinelands Alliance (the Alliance) is pleased to announce the fourth in its series of Pinelands Science Forums. This year’s theme is Water: The Lifeblood of the Pines. The ecosystems we love\, and the resources we need\, are dependent upon the abundant water and distinctive hydrology of the Kirkwood-Cohansey Aquifer. The aquifer provides fresh water  to hundreds of thousands of NJ residents. It also creates diverse and unique habitats across the New Jersey Pine Barrens. This resource is under threat. The climate is changing\, and drought is an ever pressing concern. Likewise\, increased development and the new presence of data centers place unprecedented demands on our water resources. \n\n\n\nThis Science Forum will focus on the hydrology of South Jersey\, the predictions for climate impacts in the future\, and the aquatic biodiversity this system supports. An important goal of the Alliance is to facilitate understanding and conservation of our water resources. Through the establishment of the Pinelands Research Institute\, the Alliance promotes scientific research that is the foundation of conservation and maximizes success. \n\n\n\nThe daylong forum takes place on June 3\, 2026\, in our renovated\, two-story barn. The barn is wheelchair accessible with an elevator to the second floor. \n\n\n\nThe cost to attend is $50 per person. Students can attend for $20 per person.
