In order to continue operations during this time, Pinelands Adventures has developed a series of Online Adventures to bring New Jersey’s Pine Barrens to you with their most popular programs! These interactive programs last about an hour each. You’ll need to be ready to learn and have fun with a good internet connection.
Fire is a natural form of disturbance that shapes landscapes around the world. Fire adapted ecosystems, such as the New Jersey Pine Barrens, depend on periodic fire disturbance to maintain their characteristic habitats. In addition to wildfires, prescribed fires have played an increasingly large role on the south Jersey landscape over the past century.
In this webinar we will talk about the role wildfires and prescribed burns play in the ecology and management of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. We will cover succession, plant and animal responses to fire, fire regimes and the globally important Pine Plains. Your guide is PPA Director of Conservation Science, Dr. Ryan Rebozo, Ph.D.
