Pinelands Education Programs
Pinelands Preservation Alliance offers a variety of public, professional and school-based education programs.

Public education programs include:

  • Presentations - We will speak to your community group, club, church, neighbors or other gathering on topcis like threatened and endangered species, protecting Pinelands waters, and more. Click here for more (.pdf document.)

  • Pinelands Adventures - Explore the Pine Barrens with PPA's Russell Juelg. We offer canoe trips, hikes, outdoor survival courses, Jersey Devil Hunts and more. Click here for program listings and registration.

Formal education programs for teachers and their students include the following courses and services:

  • Pinelands Summer Institute for Teachers - a five-day teacher training program in July, covers ecology, history, culture and conservation. Click here for more.

  • Life Science Field Training Institute for Teachers - a 5-day field science program to strengthen field-based investigations improve student peformance - Click here for more.

  • Field trips for teachers and students - PPA staff helps teachers conduct field trips at a variety of Pinelands locations and with a variety of possible activities. If interested, please contact Mike Hunninghake at (609) 859-8860 x24.

  • In-school programs - PPA staff give lectures, show films and help teachers bring the Pinelands into their classrooms. If interested, please contact Mike Hunninghake at (609) 859-8860 x24
