The Pinelands Commission has determined that intensive growth will occur primarily in three areas of the Pinelands. The extension of the Philadelphia- Camden metropolitan area; Ocean County comprised largely of retirement communities and in Atlantic County as a result of casino gambling in Atlantic City. It is estimated that approximately 175,000 new housing units could be built in the Regional Growth Areas. If Pinelands Development Credits are used an additional 22,500 units could be built.
