Cedarwater Streams and Rivers

One of the greatest assets of the Pinelands is the vast number of streams and rivers that arise in and flow through the Pine Barrens.  These wetlands are sustained by the vast Kirkwood-Cohansey aquifers immediately beneath the surface of the Pine Barrens.  These aquifers contain over 17 trillion gallons of water.

The Pine Barrens' high water table and porous soils make the aquifers, the surface waters they feed, and the water supply for hundreds of thousands of residents particularly vulnerable to pollution.
